ANNAN ATHLETIC 18 NEWTON STEWART 0.

Annan Athletic recorded their highest ever victory in senior football in their last home game of the season on Monday evening . Newton Stewart were the opponents and in a one sided match the rout started in the first minute when Ross Kerr lobbed the ball over the advancing Willie McWilliam in the Newton Stewart goal. Gary Cochrane made two nil in the 5^th minute and Ross Kerr volleyed number three in the 15^th minute. Gordon Moffat got his name on the scoresheet in the 17^th minute. Ross Kerr secured his hat trick in the 28^th minute when he slipped the ball between the legs of McWilliam to make it five nil. Neil Johnstone latched on to a Ross Kerr pass to guide the ball into the net in the 40^th minute . Grant Learmont’s penalty kick was saved by McWilliam in the 41^st minute but Gordon Moffat piled on the pressure by scoring number seven on the stroke of half time.

Neil Johnstone grabbed his second immediately after the break with Gordon Moffat adding another two minutes later. Gary Cochrane beat the offside trap with a run from the half way line to finish clinically in the 52^nd minute. Ross Kerr side footed into the net from a Gordon Moffat cross in the 53^rd and in the 55^th minute Gary Cochrane secured his hat trick and Annan’s twelfth goal. Gordon Moffat headed a Darren Armstrong cross into the net in the 65^th minute and Gary Cochrane secured the record breaking fouteenth goal in the 68^th minute and the same Annan player latched on to  Alan Smiths cross in the 75^th minute followed by Ross Kerr’s sixth goal two minutes later. Darren Armstrong scored the penultimate goal after good work by Gary Cochrane  in the 80^th minute and Neil Johnstone concluded a miserable evening for Newton Stewart in the 83^rd minute.

For the record books the scorers were Ross Kerr 6 , Gary Cochrane 5 , Gordon Moffat 4, Neil Johnstone 3 and Darren Armstrong 1.
