ANNAN ATHLETIC RESERVES 5 PARTICK THISTLE RESERVES 1
Annan Athletic went nap at Galabank on Tuesday evening recording a convincing 5-1 victory over Partick Thistle in the SFL Reserve League.
The Jags started well and went ahead in the 8th minute when a Chris Evans shot took a big deflection off Annan trialist Rab McQuire. Lee Hoolickin worked his way into a good position in the 23rd minute but instead of shooting the Annan player tried to set it up for Phil Storey. The warning signs were evident for Partick when Mike Jack weaved his way into the box finishing with a great strike which was equally well saved by Craig Hinchcliffe.
Man of the match Phil Storey equalised in the 30th minute when he finished off a penetrating run with a great shot off the upright. It was the first of an eventual hat trick for the talented Annan youngster who headed Annan in front in the 35th minute from a Lee Hoolickin corner kick .
Annan increased their lead in the 46th minute when Lee Hoolickin cracked in an unstoppable shot from the edge of the box from a Gary Redpath set up.
Phil Storey secured the match in the 86th minute when he tucked the ball into the corner of the net from 6 yards from a Nathen Muir pass. Greg Kelly pulled off a good save to deny Keiran Burns in the 88th minute. Annan left the best for the last minute when Jardine, Muir and Redpath opened up the Partick Thistle defence and Mike Jack side footed the ball into the net to finish off a good evenings work .
