Match Report

Jim Chapman mixed up his team selection from the line up that played on Sunday, with Ian Chisholm and Kenny Mackay both returning and Gregor Anderson getting his first start since signing back on.

It was Annan that started the brighter and created a number of early chances but without managing to hit the target.

The best chance of the half fell to Scott Davidson after Chisholm’s long ball picked out his run in behind the defence but although he managed to beat the keeper, the ball crept past the post.

Minutes later Mackay struck a low shot from 25 yards which bounced back off the post.

Annan paid for their slackness in front of goal when City took the lead in the 32nd minute. Chisholm allowed the winger too much space to get a shot away and when the trialist keeper failed to hold it, the Carlisle striker pounce to prod home.

The second half didn’t see many chances for neither side. Annan’s Carcary created a couple of half chances using some silky touches but the finishing in front of goal fell short.

A large number of youth players were introduced in the second half to get some very useful game time but the score stayed the same.
