Player Awards Night

Aidan Smith was crowned as Annan Athletic’s Supporters’ Player of the Year as he made yet more history at Galabank.

The 28-year-old – who broke the 100-goal barrier for the club just a few weeks ago – has also become our all-time record appearance holder, having topped 360 games.

He was presented with mementos for both historic successes as he left our annual presentation night on Saturday with a clutch of prizes.

As well as being named Supporters’ Player of the Year, Smith took the Young Supporters’ Player of the Year title and Top Scorer, with 17 goals so far in all competitions.

Scott Hooper capped his inspirational comeback from injury by being named Management Team and Away Day Player of the Year.

Keith Watson’s impact during his first campaign at Galabank earned him the Directors’ Player of the Year Award.

Meanwhile, a season-defining strike by Wullie Gibson away to Clyde in the Scottish Cup – which set us on the path to facing Rangers at Ibrox – was voted as Goal of the Season.

And home-grown success Charlie Maxwell was voted Young Player of the Year.

The awards evening, held in the Galabank clubhouse, was organised in conjunction with Annan Athletic FC Supporters’ Club (AAFCSC).
