The Managers Thoughts – Ashton Town

Manager Wullie Gibson gives his thoughts after our final pre season game down at Ashton Town.

“Yesterday was a difficult one, we were short in numbers with several of players carrying knocks and you could see that with Charlie Maxwell playing as the lone striker and also having two trialists starting.

I don’t like to lose any game but yesterday wasn’t about the result for me, it was about getting more minutes in the legs and looking at a few players/things in what will be our last friendly.

We do have some injuries…Tam, Hoops, Ally and Corey all missed today. Scott and Ally should hopefully be available next week and Tam and Corey not too long after. Dicko and myself picked up knocks during the game too but nothing to worry about.

I’m looking forward to Spartans at home next week. I know the cup campaign has been tough but for me it was about giving the players opportunities and game time to prepare ourselves for the league. It’s shown where we need to improve no doubt about it but we’ve also took some positives from it.

Big thanks to the fans for travelling down to Ashton and hopefully we can have a good turn out next week as we aim to get off to a positive start in which we know will be a very tough and competitive league.”
