AAFC Player Awards 2025

Goalkeeper Jamie Smith has been crowned Annan Athletic’s Player of the Year.

The on-loan Galabank number one stole the show at the club’s annual awards as he was presented with four of the evening’s prizes following a string of stunning performances between the sticks this season.

The clubhouse at Galabank was packed as fans joined players and coaches for the presentation after the final home game of the regular season against Cove Rangers on Saturday.

Home-grown star Charlie Maxwell – a product of Annan’s youth system – capped an impressive season personally as he lifted the prize for Young Player of the Year.

Speaking at the awards, manager Wullie Gibson saluted the spirit of his squad ahead of Tuesday’s play-off semi-final against Elgin City, urging the Black and Golds faithful to “believe” as his men prepare to pull out all of the stops to secure the club’s third successive season in League One.

Club captain Tommy Muir and vice-captain Scott Hooper also highlighted the critical part that fans have to play in spurring the side to success in their upcoming games.
