Charity Shirt Sponsorship 2020/21
At what would have been the end of a normal season, Annan Athletic Football Club would have been looking forward to preparations for the 2020/21 season, but the current situation that we are all experiencing, with the outbreak of COVID-19, the club is having to look differently at how we prepare for the start of that new season, whenever it comes.
Club chairman Philip Jones said, “One of our first priorities would have been the annual shirt sponsorship draw but due to these very exceptional times, we will not be canvassing for local businesses to enter the draw by way of a cash payment. As a community orientated club, we recognise that local based businesses are really struggling and to operate the sponsorship draw in the usual way would not be the right thing to do”.
“Instead, we propose to support 3 charities and also our own charitable arm, The Black & Gold Foundation, that we have the experience of working with and we want to support them as they try to support others in the community. The three other charities will be placed on our Home and Away kit for season 2020/21”.
If the wider public would like to support the Charitable arm of Annan Athletic and the other 3 charities, we have set up a GoFundMe page and all proceeds will be distributed equally between all 4 groups.
The 3 charities are:
Back Onside – Is an independent charity based in the UK, committed to tackling mental health illness. Here in the UK, 1 in 4 people will experience a mental health illness each year. Mental health includes a person’s emotional, psychological and social well-being.
Back Onside is committed to helping young people and adults who face mental health challenges due to social exclusion, disability or challenging life circumstances.
SSAFA – support covers both regulars and reserves in the Royal Navy, the Royal Marines, the British Army and the Royal Air Force and their families, including anyone who has completed National Service. They are all entitled to lifelong support from SSAFA, no matter how long they have served.
NHS, Dumfries and Galloway – aim to deliver excellent care that is person-centred, safe, effective, efficient and reliable, as well as working with the communities and partner organisations to reduce health inequalities across the region.
