Club Academy Scotland (CAS)-Club Statement

Earlier this week, Annan Athletic were represented by Chairman Henry McClelland and Manager Jim Chapman at Hampden at a Judicial Panel Appellate Tribunal to put forward the Club’s case where we had appealed an earlier Club Academy Scotland Licensing Committee decision that was going to see the club awarded a zero star rating.

As a result the club  found themselves in front of an independent appeal panel made up of a Sheriff and two lawyers. The Chairman commented ‘Our argument was successful and we have been granted 2~star status within Club Academy Scotland and the club will receive the corresponding funding in due course. This will enable the CAS programme to continue, without the grant funding the CAS programme was in serious doubt.’ He further explained ‘As it turned out the Judicial Panel had to rule on a technicality that saw the initial Licensing Committee having to follow their rules to the letter and give the club a zero star rating. At the hearing the SFA’s Licensing Committee supported the club’s position and the panel upheld our appeal. Our immediate challenge however is to ensure we do not find ourselves in the situation that was highlighted in the SFA’s Club Academy Scotland Audit findings in September. In the weeks following the Audit Report a significant amount of administrative work to tidy up and in some cases completely overhaul some procedures was carried out. I would like to thank Jim for the relentless work and hours he’s put into this to enable us achieve the point of compliance, a point that is essential we continue to maintain to ensure the club remains an integral part of the Club Academy Scotland programme.’
