Club And Supporters Support Disability Olympic Bid

The club and its supporters pulled together at the last home league game against Edinburgh City to offer their support to the Dumfries and Galloway Special Olympics teams fundraising bid for this summers Olympics in Sheffield.

Chairman Henry McClelland presented a cheque for £500 on behalf of the club and this was further boosted by a £200 donation from the supporters club. A bucket collection was held on the day by the many volunteers who are supporting the fundraising effort for the team and this raised a further £215 as the supporters dug deep.

The Annan Athletic FC disability side showcased their skills at half time in a penalty shoot out with some great penalties on display from the team.

Coach George Morrison said: “I would like to take this opportunity to formally thank Annan Athletic football club and the Annan Athletic supporters club for their kind donations to the Dumfries and Galloway disability sports. The money donated will be put towards the Special Olympic £25000 fund raising appeal that will enable us to take 35 athletes with learning  difficulties to the event in August. Once again thank you very much and hopefully when the team come home from the games they can come to a game and show off our medals.”
