Club Appoints First Analyst

Manager Wullie Gibson has appointed Kieran Thomson as the clubs first Performance Analyst.

Kieran is currently studying on a computing course at Dumfries College, does his own coding and is very passionate about the intricacies and statistics of football. Annan Athletic have had GPS trackers for the last couple of seasons but we have felt the need for this as a specialist role within the club, we are aware other clubs have data and analysis specialists and we should be no different. Stepping up to League 1 and maintaining the status last season, we need to find departments we can strengthen and develop, data is power and we are delighted to put Kieran in place to help with this, also giving Kieran valuable experience on this subject. This role will be vital over the course of the season, to help Wullie and his team prepare.

As he joins the new backroom staff, Kieran commented,

“Im absolutely delighted to be joining Annan Athletic and to be a part of Wullie’s coaching staff for the upcoming season. This is an incredible opportunity that I couldn’t turn down. I look forward to helping the players, the coaching staff, and the club as a whole through my work as an analyst. I am excited to contribute to the team in a multitude of ways.”
