Match Report

Annan lacklustre start to the season continued as Albion Rovers ensured it was 3 defeats from 3 in the Viaplay League Cup group stage.
After facing Premiership and Championship sides in there first two games there was hope that Annan could get off the mark against Albion Rovers at Galabank and give the home fans a better indication of the level we are at in this early part of the season.

Greg Fleming was in fine form during the first half as he made a number of top drawer saves to deny the visitors throughout the first half. Albion were left to rue their missed chances as Tommy Goss opened the scoring just before half time. The big striker picked the ball up from a long throw in before turning poking the ball across the line from close range. Annan with their tails up then almost double their lead minutes later but Goss’s close range header was well saved by Connelly.

Annan started the second half the better side and should’ve doubled their lead but Goss somehow fired wide from close range after a great delivery from Josh Galloway.
Albion finally managed to find a way past the brilliant Fleming in the 77th minute through Bright Prince and they hit again 5 minutes later with a late winner from ex Annan player Niyah Joseph.
