Match Report
The build up to the new season continued in glorious sunshine at Galabank on Saturday, both teams fielded numerous trialists in a match that was keanly contested and proved to be ideal preparation for both teams.
Queens got off to the best possible start when inside 2 minutes Stephen Dobie’s well struck shot took a wicked deflection off an Annan defender to send trialist keeper Aiden Grant the wrong way. Tony Wallace was unlucky not to bring the hosts level when his well struck shot hit the woodwork.
It was the doonhamers doubled their lead in spectacular fashion in the 13th minute when Stephen Dobie’s free kick from 20 yards flew into the top left hand corner of the net. Annan worked their way back into the match and in the 35th minute they were rewarded when Tony Wallace’s shot from 25 yards came off the cross bar and Tommy Muir slotted the rebound into the empty net.
Both teams made numerous changes in the second half and it was ex Queens player Aidan Smith who squared the match in the 79th minute when following a corner the Annan striker slammed the ball into the roof of the net from 10 yards.
Annan’s build up continues on Tuesday evening when they face Gretna 2008 at Raydale Park kick off 7-30pm. Queens entertain Livingston on Friday 6th July ko 7-45pm. Annan kick off their season in earnest on 15th July when they entertain Hamilton Accademicals at Galabank KO 3-00PM . Annan haveno confirmed match to date for next Saturday 7th July.
