Annan FC vs Partick Thistle
Match Report
Partick Thistle were too hot to handle for Annan at Galabank on Tuesday evening. The Premier League side struck twice in the opening minutes Christie Elliott scored in the 3rd minute and a minute later Jordan McMillan tapped home from 6 yards to connect with a Christie Elliott cross. After the early set back Annan started to make a game of it but it was Partick who once again scored in the 28th minute when Chris Doolan latched on to a cross from the right to finish with a looping shot into the roof of the net.
Annan continued to work hard and they were rewarded in the 44th minute when Matthew Flynn’s cracking strike from 20 yards flew into the top corner of the net to give Paul Gallagher no chance.
Partick continued to take the game to Annan in the second half and they were rewarded in the 60th minute when a blistering Gary Fraser shot swerved past Alex Mitchell . The ex Hamilton man then scored his second goal of the evening when he tapped the ball into the net from close range from a Hugh Murray cross.
Annan boss Jim Chapman said it was a difficult game but an excellent learning experience that will stand us in good stead for the forthcoming season. I have challenged the players to identify the principles applied by Partick Thistle and build it into our own play and performances.
