Match Report

The last time these 2 teams met in the development league Airdrieonians scored twice in the dying minutes to grasp victory away from Annan but on Monday night Annan were convincingly beaten a wet miserable evening at the Excelsior Stadium.
The first half was evenly contested with Aidrie scoring in the 35th minute, recent signing Jordan Morton scoring with a curling low shot from the edge of the box which beat Jake Gemmel’s outstretched arm.
The home team increased their lead in the 51st minute when John Boyle’s penetrating run down the left finished with a great inviting ball which Morton connected with to score from inside the 6 yard box. Substitute Nicky Cadden made it three nil in the 62nd minute with a good strike from the edge of the box. Annan’s misery was completed in the 85th minute when Liam Watt and John Boyle combined for Watt to finish off from 1 yard.
Annan’s next Development Game takes place at lesser Hampden on Monday evening against Queens Park.
