Airdrieonians grasped victory out of the hands of Annan on Thursday evening scoring 2 goals in the final three minutes to move back to the top of the Development League .
Annan went ahead in the 4th minute when Rabin Omar latched on to a Davidson through ball finishing with a low strike into the corner of the net . The lead lasted for 3 minutes when Aiden Wood connected with a free kick to square the ball into the feet of Kyle Richford who side footed into the net from 4 yards.
Annan continued to press and they were rewarded in the 23rd minute when Matty Flynn’s defence splitting ball to Scott Davidson who slotted the ball into the corner of the net via the inside of the post from a very acute angle.
Annan increased their lead In the 43rd minute Ryan McStay picked up a loose ball to guide the ball into the corner of the net to give Annan a 3-1 interval lead.
Annan started the second half well and chances fell to Davidson and substitute Colyn Liddle before Nicky Cadden nipped in to connect with substitute Jamie Watson’s low cross in the 75th minute. It was Jamie Watson who grabbed the 87th minute eqauliser with a superb overhead kick.
Airdrie were pressing hard for the winner and in added on time Michael McAnespie handled in the box and from the resulting penalty kick Kyle Richford converted to secure the points for the visitors.
Bad news from tonights match was the fact that Steven Swinglehurst had to leave the field of play with an injury to his left knee , which will be a blow as he was back on the bench last week against East Fife after a period being out injured with the same knee.
