Annan vs Ayr United
Match Report
Annan are still looking for their first Development League West victory following their third successive defeat at the hands of Ayr United at Galabank on Tuesday evening. The damage was done in the first half when the rampant Ayr United scored all their goals.
Annan were first to show when Steven Logan’s first time shot pulled out a fine save from Ayr keeper Shaun Numan. Ryan Nisbet and Craig McGuffie came close for Ayr United before Nisbet opened the scoring when he waltzed past a couple of challenges and finished with a low shot off the base of the post. Rabin Omar tried his luck with a header which went past the post before Ayr doubled their lead in the 38th minute. The goal however was a goal Annan will look back on with some regret when a poor Iain Chisholm pass was intercepted and Shaun McKenzie picked up the opportunity to finish with a low shot into the bottom corer of the net. Annan’s first half misery was completed in the 44th minute when Ryan Nisbet headed in to give the honest men a 3 goal interval lead.
Annan were more of a threat in the second half but goal scoring opportunities were few and far between. Dan Wood should have done better when he headed past in the 60th minute and Marin McNiff was denied a goal by a superb Shaun Newman save minutes later. Ayr were reduced to 10 men moments later when Andrew Muir was sent off for a second yellow.
Annan continued to dominate possession but they did not have the cutting edge up front to open up the young Ayr defence.
Annan’s next match in the Development League is on Tuesday evening 23rd September when they face Clyde at Broadwood Stadium kick off 7-15pm.
