Match Report

Queens lifted the points in this Development League match courtesy off a superb first half performance when they romped to a 3 goal advantage but Annan responded magnificently scoring 2 goals at the start of the second half before substitute Dylan Neil scored a late goal to secure the points for Queens.
Rabine Omar almost put Annan ahead in the 5th minute when his near post clip from Davidson’s cross went narrowly past. Then almost immediately at the other end Aiden Smith headed the Queens in front from a Dean Smith cross. Dean Smith then hit the post in the 19th minute and then he hit the bar in the 27th minute as Queens went all out to increase their lead . Lyndon Dykes scored a second goal with a low shot from the edge of the box which somehow beat keeper Jake Gemmell. Annan’s first half misery was completed in the 39th minute when Patrick Slattery picked out Scot Hooper who scored from 4 yards.
Annan started the second half brightly and within 10 minutes had pulled 2 goals back. The first in the 51st minute when Rabin Omar picked up a poor clearance form Atkinson to score form 20 yards. 4 minutes later Scott Davidson reduced the deficit further as he wriggled past 3 defenders before finishing with a low crisp shot from 10 yards . Queens had lost their rhythm and Substitute Colyn Liddle had a great opportunity to square the game when one on one with the keeper but unfortunately lost his footing after rounding the keeper.
Queens pressed hard in the final 15 minutes and they secured the game in the 80th minute when Dylan Neil scrambled the ball over the line following a period of sustained pressure.
Annan’s next match in the Development League is on Thursday evening 23rd October when they face Airdrie United at Galabank kick off 7-30pm. On Tuesday evening 21st October Annan entertain Arbroath in the rearranged SPFL2 match Kick Off 7-30pm.
