Match Report

Annan Athletic progressed to the third round of the SFA Under 20 Youth Cup at the expense of Threave Rovers at Galabank on Sunday afternoon.

James Gillan gave Annan the lead in the 10th minute with a crisp shot after Rabin Omar slipped the ball into his path. Colyn Liddle doubled Annan’s advantage in the 20th minute with a superb shot from the edge of the box into the roof of the net. Five minutes later Matthew Robinson failed to hold Liddle’s shot and Rabin Omar was quick to react to slip the ball into the net from close range. Threave’s first half misery was completed in the 38th minute when keeper Robinson misjudged Scott Norman’s free kick from 50 yards with the shot going over his outstretched arms and into the net.

The second half followed a similar pattern to the first with Annan taking the game to the visitors and in the 53rd Jordan Brown scored the goal of the game with a superb low shot from 25 yards . Scott Norman put the finishing touch to a good move involving Gillan and substitute Bailley White in the 73rd minute . Substitute Brandon Ford concluded the scoring in the 84th minute with a deft header from a Liddle cross.
