Match Report

ANNAN manager Jim Chapman was delighted as his side booked their place in the Raydale Cup final after they defeated the hosts Gretna 2008 2-0 and now meet Workington Reds in the final.
Chapman was quick to praise the hosts for putting on such a tournament. He said: “You’ve got to congratulate Gretna for putting on something like this and bringing everyone together. There is good spirit, the games are good and it was a real good physical tests for the players.
“I think every team will benefit from being part of the tournament. It was a tough game for us but I’m pleased with one or two aspects of our game.”
He added: “We got a victory and a clean sheet but there are still areas we’ve identified and need to keep working on. I’m pleased for the players, real good effort and commitment and we got more good time into the bank.”
Lowland side Gretna fought hard but Annan just edged it after a great start with Josh Todd firing them into the lead in the 15th minute.
He could have added a second midway through but the home keeper stopped his shot.
Gretna also had openings before the interval but it was David Hopkirk who sealed a final spot for with a 55th minute strike.
