Match Report

Three goals in a nine minute spell before the break gave the reserves a narrow win at Central Park on Tuesday night.
Both sides had their chances to break the deadlock in the opening period before the Blue Brazil opened the scoring after 29 minutes.
Aron Lynas sent over a cross into the Annan box which looked an easy catch for keeper Garry Black but the ball slipped from his grasp and he could only look on as the ball rolled over the line. Seven minutes later however Annan got back on level terms when Kieran Brannan beat the home sides offside trap and sent the ball to Scott Davidson who slotted the ball home. The closing five minutes of the first half proved to be dramatic as we were awarded two penalties and scored twice! With 40 minutes gone Kieran Brannan was brought down in the box by Cowden skipper Jamie Pyper but home keeper Thomas Flynn produced a good save to deny him from the resulting spot kick. Three minutes later we however got in front when Gregor Anderson got on the end of a Brannan corner to head powerfully past Flynn. A minute later Brannan was once again brought down in the box by Pyper and this time Davidson made no mistake from the spot blasting a powerful kick past Flynn.
The home side came more into the game in closing stages with Stewart coming close while a Miller effort skimmed the top of the crossbar before they eventually pulled a goal back with ten minutes to go when Ben Anthony fired a curling shot into the top corner of the net. Lynas then fired a 30 yard drive just past the post while at the other end Flynn denied Brannan.
Then as the game went into the dying minutes, Black turned a Miller shot around the post to secure our win.
