Gibson Signs New Deal

We’re delighted to announce that Manager Wullie Gibson has signed a 2 and a half year contract extension as manager of Annan Athletic, extending his tenure at the club until summer 2028.

Gibson joined the club as a player in January 2023 and after the departure of Peter Murphy in the summer of 2024, Gibson was appointed as First Team Manager, whilst continuing to play a major role on the pitch as well.

Gibson’s experience as a player and manager has been invaluable to the team, and he was recently rewarded for his efforts with his first manager of the month award for October 2025.

“I’m delighted to extend my contract here for the next two and a half years” commented Gibson.

“Discussions started with the club several weeks ago and right from the start it was something we both wanted to do. That allowed me to go ahead and get key players signed up for next season while we kept discussing the finer details of the contract.

The club have faced some tough times over the past year but we’ve worked extremely hard together on and off the field to improve the club and put the club in a better position. I’ve loved every minute here, both as a player and now as player/manager.

This season there’s still a lot to play for and hopefully we can do enough to make the playoffs. We have a good core of players signed up for next season, between now and the summer the hard work will continue as I look to add to that.

Every player and manager wants to be successful and win things, I’m no different. I’ve already won promotion as a player here and I’ll continue to work as hard as possible to hopefully achieve that as manager aswell.

Hopefully we can go to Stirling tonight and put in a good performance and get a positive result.”
