Lowland RFCA Date At Edinburgh Castle

Annan Athletic were delighted to be invited by the Lowland Reserve Forces Cadet Association to their employer lunch at Edinburgh Castle.

The Lowland Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’ Association held an Employer Engagement lunch for Scottish football clubs who are supporting Armed Forces personnel and their families.

The event was hosted by former SKY sports presenter David Tanner and it followed on from the club being awarded the Bronze ERS award after we hosted Army Reserve Cup Final at Galabank.

Representatives from eight teams which play in the Scottish Professional Football League and Lowland Football League gathered to share best practice and experiences of working with the Forces community through sport.

Speaking about the award Chairman Philip Jones said: “The club were delighted to be asked to hold the Army Reserve Cup Final and become involved with Lowland RFCA.  It was great that the local people turned out to support our armed forces and it accentuates everything that that we want to do in the community.

“Going forward we are working hard towards silver status and we currently have some veterans and reservists within our group, including our paramedic.”

I would recommend any club thinking about signing up to the Armed Forces Covenant to do this today and we look forward to continuing our partnership with the Armed Forces”.
