Forfar consolidated their position at the top of the league with a convincing victory which leaves Annan in that bottom clutch of 6 teams all scrapping to avoid finishing in the bottom position. It was so easy for Forfar who went ahead after only 4 minutes when ex Annan player David Cox beat Adam Asghar to head the ball in at the near post from a Lewis Milne corner kick.

It was a dreadful start for Annan but they pushed forward and in the 18th minute Darren Ramsay broke down the right to finish with a low shot straight into the arms of Grant Adam. At the other end Josh Peters tested Blair Currie. Stephen Bronsky had an opportunity to square the match in the 21st minute when he headed over Ramsay’s corner from a very promising position.

Forfar doubled their lead in the 27th minute when Thomas O,brien made the best of the opportunity created by David Cox’s miss kick after the ball had been cut back from the right. Aiden Smith tested keeper Grant Adam in the 33rd minute, this was followed by a McKenna shot which went over the bar.

Forfar then struck again almost on the stroke of half time when Josh Peters cut the ball back from the right into the path of Danny Denholm who guided the ball into the net from close range to give the home team a three goal interval advantage.

Annan’s misery continued when Blair Currie fumbled Lewis Milne’s effort in the 50th minute to put the match firmly out of the reach of Annan. Aiden Smith pulled one back for Annan in the 65th minute when he latched on to a David McKenna through ball to slip the ball into the corner of the net.

Ramsay was at the end of a promising Annan move in the 75th minute but the final effort missed the target. The best goal of game came in the 85th minute and it was man of the match Lewis Milne who took three Annan players out of the match with some fancy footwork to finish with a stunning 30 yard effort which flew into the net.

Annan face a couple of interesting games against bottom of the table Stirling Albion on Saturday at Forthbank a venue where Annan have still to record a victory this is followed by the visit of Berwick Rangers on Christmas Eve
