SPFL Trust Trophy

 DETAILS CONFIRMED FOR THE 2021/22 COMPETITION

The Scottish Professional Football League today announced the format and dates of the SPFL Trust Trophy for Season 2021/22.

The competition next season will involve four clubs from each of the Scottish Highland and Scottish Lowland Leagues, as well as up to 12 Premiership B teams and each of the Championship, League 1 and League 2 clubs.

SPFL Trust Trophy 2021/22 – format and dates

The participants will be as follows:

•    Scottish Premiership B teams (up to 12)
•    Scottish Championship (10)
•    Scottish League 1 (10)
•    Scottish League 2 (10)
•    Scottish Highland Football League (4)
•    Scottish Lowland Football League (4)

As in previous seasons, entry to the Challenge Cup will be seeded. The round-by-round structure and entry will be as follows:

Round 1 (regionalised)
Premiership B teams + Scottish Lowland Football League + Scottish Highland Football League + Scottish League 2 + Scottish League 1 (bottom 6 clubs)
= 36 teams / 18 ties / 18 progress to Round 2

Round 2 (regionalised)
18 x Round 1 winners + Scottish League 1 (top 4 clubs) + Scottish Championship
= 32 teams / 16 ties / 16 progress to Round 3

Round 3
16 x Round 2 winners
= 16 teams / 8 ties / 8 progress to Quarter Final

Quarter-finals
8 x Round 3 winners
= 8 teams / 4 ties / 4 progress to Semi Final

Semi-finals
4 x Quarter-Final winners
= 4 teams / 2 ties / 2 progress to Final

Final
2 x Semi-Final winners
