Having worked with players across different levels of the game, Colin’s professionalism, experience, and passion for developing young talent will be a huge asset to the squad throughout the season
Also joining the management setup is Ross Goodwin, who brings over 15 years of experience working within football in both Scotland and England at a high level. Ross has extensive experience on the medical and fitness side of the game, working closely with players on conditioning, recovery, injury prevention, and overall performance. His knowledge and expertise will play an important role in supporting the squad throughout the season.
Everyone at Annan Community Football would like to welcome Peter, Colin, and Ross to their new roles and wish them every success for the season ahead in the South of Scotland Football League.
Head coach Peter Watson said “Im delighted to be involved with the new under 20 project and id like to thank everyone for giving me this opportunity. Its an exciting time and im really looking forward to it.Having played South of Scotland league football as a teenager myself I know the challenges we will face and this will hopefully provide some insightful knowledge to the players.I have worked with some great managers in my own career and I will try and implement some of the values and proffessionalism that I have gained to develop these boys as much as possible to hopefully carry on and step them up to Annan Athletic firt team in the future. On a personal note, this will be valuable coaching experience in real time that will continue to help develop my skillset.Of course I will be bringing in a couple of guys that I can rely on and have honest conversations with and trust.Firstly Colin McMenamin who I have worked closely with from our time at Annan Athletic and last season at Queen of the South. Colins has vast experience within football, with his playing career speaking for its self and having his own managerial accomplishments, then latterly Peter Murphys assistant, bringing Colin back to Annan Athletic is massive for us all and he is looking forward to giving back to the youth at a team that was part of his own playing journey.Secondly I have Ross Goodwin who will be helping, Ross is someone I have known for nearly 30 years and we came through the ranks at Annan together, playing South of Scotland football aswell. Ross is considered one of the best physios in Scottish football and is currently still at Kilmarnock FC, he is starting his own coaching journey and I am delighted he is coming along.
